Newark, NJ – Amtrak will require all of its passengers to wear face masks starting next week.
The national rail service announced Thursday that the new measures will take effect on Monday.
Passengers must bring their own masks and wear them over their nose and mouth while at stations, trains or buses. They can take them off to eat in designated areas or if they are sitting alone or with a travel companion. Young children are exempt from its use.RELATED
Amtrak has already reduced its reservations by 50% to promote social distancing. Since the pandemic began, it has registered a reduction of more than 90% in the number of its passengers.
