Madrid (AP) —Youth striker Ansu Fati reappears on the Spanish team after a long injury layoff.
Luis Enrique has included a 19-year-old player in the 25-player list of four Nations League games that “Roha” will play in June on Monday.RELATED
Fati hasn’t played in Spain since his match against Ukraine in the same tournament in October 2020. He suffers from his muscle and knee illness and has only recently played again in Barcelona. He scored one goal in five games at the Spanish tournament in May and was off the bench in each game.
“Ansu Fati is another case. He doesn’t arrive for minutes. He doesn’t take any risks. He trains and returns to his level with the award that he is an important player. I hope that. ” Luis Enrique.
Born in Guinea-Bissau, Fati is considered one of the great expectations of Spanish football, but his injury has slowed his career. He was aiming to compete in the European Championship in 2020, but was unable to compete in the tournament after the postponement of the pandemic and when it was finally staged he was recovering from one of his injuries.
Another person returning to the national team is Marco Asensio, an attacker of Real Madrid. His last match on the national team defeated Germany 6-0 in the Nations League in November 2020.
Asensio is not a Madrid starter, but Luis Enrique emphasized that “he has always helped us.”
Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara will reappear after not being summoned at Euro 2020 last year. Thiago was injured in the final round of the Premier League on Sunday, but Luis Enrique said the injury did not seem to be serious.
The list also includes 17-year-old Barcelona midfielder Gavi Páez.
Among the players excluded due to injury, Pedri González, Jeremi Pino, Gerard Moreno and Mikel Oyalzabal stand out.
Defender José Gayà Gaya, a regular on Luis Enrique’s call, was excluded, as was goalkeeper David de Gia, who had not been considered for a long time.
Spain lost to France last season and advanced to the Nations League final.
He will open in Group 2 against Portugal in Seville on June 2nd this year. They will then meet the Czech Republic in Prague three days later and will visit Switzerland on June 9. They will face the Czechs in Malaga on June 12th.
