Washington, DC – America’s leading infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, sees a surge in COVID-19 vaccination after the country’s drug regulators approved the Pfizer injection.
The official said Tuesday that the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) decision on Monday should encourage people who cited the lack of approval as a reason not to get vaccinated. Pfizer’s vaccine was only cleared by the FDA for use in an emergency.
Fauci told NBC’s “Today Show” that FDA approval will mean that workplaces, schools and the military recommend “more enthusiastically” that people get vaccinated.RELATED
The FDA decision authorizes Pfizer to advertise the vaccine. Government data shows that just under half of the population in the country has not been vaccinated.
