Anti-corruption Asks The Judge Of The Villarejo Case To Cite Fernández Díaz And Cospedal As Investigated For The Espionage Of Bárcenas

The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office has asked the judge in the Villarejo case to summon Jorge Fernández Díaz, who was Minister of the Interior during Mariano Rajoy’s first term, and María Dolores de Cospedal, former secretary general of the Popular Party, as investigated, according to case sources. Anticorruption requests this diligence in the framework of the piece investigating the espionage of Luis Bárcenas from reserved funds, one of the actions of the group of police officers that made up the political brigade.

Piece 7 of the Villarejo case investigates Operation Kitchen, a para-police maneuver funded with public funds to sabotage the investigation of box B of the Popular Party. In that same piece, the Secretary of State for Security at the time of the events, Francisco Martínez, and the commissioner that the PP chose to lead the Police, Eugenio Pino, as well as the entire front line of the political brigade that He acted against the sovereignty process in Catalonia, in a first stage, and later against Podemos.

The espionage of Bárcenas constituted a third mission by this group of Interior Ministry officials and their political leaders aimed at obstructing the investigation of the case that is being pursued in the National High Court against the irregular financing of the party for more than 20 years. Piece 7 of the Villarejo case, as the judge and Anticorruption have written down, investigates the activities of a group of policemen to benefit leaders of the Popular Party.

One of those accused policemen is Commissioner Andrés Gómez Gordo, who left the Corps for a period to work as with María Dolores de Cospedal when she was president of Castilla-La Mancha. Gómez Gordo returned to the Police because he had known Bárcenas’s driver for years, the mole who used the political brigade to spy on the treasurer’s relative when he entered prison in the summer of 2013. Another of the commissioners investigated in the piece 7, Enrique García Castaño, has declared before the judge that Gómez Gordo is the author of the report against the alleged irregular financing of Podemos whose content was despised by the National Court and the Supreme Court.

The sources consulted assure that the indications collected during the investigation against Fernández Díaz and María Dolores de Cospedal have been ratified after the seizure of the mobile phone of what was their number two, Francisco Martínez, last March. He has refused to testify on the two previous occasions that he has been summoned, although in the last one he transferred to Judge García-Castellón that he would do so when the summary secrecy was lifted, which is scheduled for next Monday.

María Dolores de Cospedal had to leave politics when at the end of 2018 the audios of the meetings between her and her husband, businessman Ignacio López del Hierro, with Commissioner Villarejo, were revealed in which the first two showed their intention to harm the investigation on box B of the PP and the bonuses in the party.
