Washington – Arizona authorities on Monday certified Joe Biden’s tight victory over President Donald Trump in the state.
Secretary of State Democrat Katie Hobbs and Republican Gov. Doug Ducey defended the integrity of the election even as Trump’s attorneys met across town with nine Republican lawmakers to argue, without presenting evidence, that the elections were marked by fraud.
“Here in Arizona we do the elections well. The system is robust, ”Ducey said.
RELATEDBiden won Arizona by a margin of 0.3% of nearly 3.4 million votes, a difference of just under 10,500 votes. He is the second Democrat in 70 years to win the state.
The certification also paves the way for Democrat Mark Kelly to take his place in the US Senate, formalizing his victory in a special election to replace the late John McCain. Kelly is scheduled to be sworn in Wednesday in Washington.
