Hillsborough District Attorney Andrew Warren said 17-year-old Graham Ivan Clark was arrested in Tampa, Florida, accused of using the hijacked Twitter accounts to post messages on behalf of the owners to direct victims to send funds in the form of electronic currencies to accounts he controlled. According to investigations, Clark managed to defraud more than $ 100,000 in bitcoins in a single day. The case embarrassed Twitter, calling into question the vulnerability of the accounts, despite the company’s assertions that it is making tremendous efforts to protect user accounts. Apple, Elon Musk, Biden, Obama and others hacked in massive attack on Twitter. Accounts of important figures from politics, entertainment, media and others were kidnapped and used to request the bitcoin cryptocurrency. “These crimes were perpetrated using the names of famous people and celebrities, but they were not the victims here. This bitcoin fraud was designed to steal money from regular Americans across the country, including here in Florida. This massive fraud was orchestrated here in our backyard and we will not tolerate that, ”prosecutor Warren said in a statement. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Justice conducted a complex investigation across the country that allowed the teenager to be located and arrested in Hillsborough County. Despite being a minor, Clark has been accused as if he were an adult. “I wish to congratulate our federal partners, the United States Attorney for the Northern District of California, the FBI, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Secret Service, as well as the Florida State Police,” Warren stated. “They worked quickly to investigate and identify the person responsible for this huge and sophisticated fraud.”
