Athletic Bilbao Still Without Winning, Draws Against Getafe

MADRID (AP) – Athletic Bilbao reached seven straight games without a win in the Spanish La Liga after drawing 0-0 with Getafe, who are in danger of relegation, on Monday.

It is the fifth draw for Athletic in their winless streak, placing the Basque Country team in ninth position after 16 games. Their last victory in La Liga was in October at home to Villarreal.

Athletic goalkeeper Unai Simón blocked several key shots, including one in the aggregate in the second half, thus preventing the visitors from losing to Getafe. Athletic have not scored in four of their last five games.

Getafe coach Quique Sánchez Flores was sent off after the final whistle for complaining to the referee.

Getafe started the season with seven defeats in a row, but has improved. He has only one setback in his last six league games and has two straight home wins.

The Madrid club remains penultimate in the standings.

Real Madrid leads La Liga with eight points more than Sevilla, which has one game less.
