Washington – The president of the United States, Joe Biden, will travel next Sunday with his wife to the Texas town of Uvalde, scene of the massacre last Tuesday in which a young man killed 19 children and two teachers in an elementary school.

The White House reported in a statement Joe and Jill Biden’s trip on Sunday to “share mourning with this community that has lost twenty-one lives in the horrific school shooting.”

Biden already announced yesterday that he would go to Texas to accompany the families of the Uvalde victims and “hopefully offer some comfort to a shocked, hurt and traumatized community.”

The US president’s visit will take place five days after this massacre that occurred last Tuesday, when an 18-year-old broke into Robb Elementary School, barricaded himself in a classroom and shot everyone in it, killing 19 students and two teachers.

It will be the president’s second such visit in less than two weeks, after traveling to Buffalo on May 17 to escort relatives of victims of the shooting to a city store where a white supremacist killed 10 people, mostly black.
