BANGKOK (AP) – Deaths caused by COVID-19 disease in China exceeded 3,000, although new cases have steadily declined, authorities said Thursday.

Another 139 people infected with the new coronavirus were reported, all of them, with the exception of five, in Hubei province, where the outbreak broke out.
Hubei hospitals admitted 134 patients, while another 1,923 were declared cured and discharged.
The updated figures brought the total number of cases in China to 80,409, with 3,012 deaths. The Asian country has the majority of cases and deaths, although the outbreak has spread to more than 70 countries.
The numbers in China have steadily declined. Although the cases reported on Thursday showed an increase of 20 compared to those on Wednesday, there were seven fewer deaths.
