What is the Paris Agreement?

It is an international agreement that was signed in the 2015 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which establishes measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions – water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen oxide and ozone in all countries of the world.

It was negotiated by representatives of 195 countries in the convention and adopted by consensus on December 12 of the same year. The signing of the agreement was on April 22, 2016.

It seeks to reinforce the global response to the threat of climate change, as well as keep the global average temperature rise well below 2 degrees Celsius, a development with low greenhouse gas emissions and place financial flows at a level compatible with environment.
