Given the negative responses, Thompson explained that this edition was held in 2014, two years before Trump was elected president of the United States, so he ruled out that there were substantive political motivations.

After generating a controversy over the elimination of the scene, President Trump took sides with a sarcastic comment.
"The movie will never be the same! (Just kidding)," he wrote on Twitter.
And referring to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and recent disagreements between the two leaders on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and trade tariffs, he wrote another tweet.
"I guess Justin T. doesn't like it much to make him pay for NATO or trade!" He said.

His son Donald Trump Jr. also shared a link to a note quoting him as "pathetic."
During a video conference with US soldiers abroad, Trump described "My poor little angel 2" as "a great Christmas success," according to the Deadline website.
"Many people mention it every year, especially near Christmas. They say, especially young children: 'I just saw you in the movie,'" the president said.
"It was a good movie and I was a little younger, to put it mildly. And it was an honor to do it," said the president, who was 46 when the tape was released.
Other film appearances of the entrepreneur and politician include Zoolander (2001) and "Ghosts can't do it" (Ghosts Can't Do It, 1990).
