During the signing ceremony, held the day before at Andrews Air Force Base, Trump added that Space Force "will help us deter aggression and control the position of higher advantage."

The allocation of funds for this division was confirmed this Friday within the annual budget of 738 billion dollars, of which 40 million are allocated to Space Force in its first year of activities.

Space Force does not intend to put troops in orbit but it does protect the satellites used for communication and surveillance because “both China and Russia are investing in systems designed to erode our current innovative and defensive advantages” such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing technologies Barret added.

With 200 initial members, the division will be one of the smallest compared to the army, which has 480,000 active duty soldiers.
