During Christmas Eve, President Donald Trump had said that it was an honor for him to have gone out in My poor little angel 2 (Home Alone 2). The president said that the film is one of the most successful at Christmas time.
However that same day, the Canadian television network CBC eliminated Trump's brief appearance in the film, claiming that the cut was made before the president was elected as president of the United States.
Upon learning of the events, Trump wrote a message on Twitter in which he said: “The film will never be the same! (just kidding)".RELATED
Long before settling in the White House and when he was still just a businessman, Trump made that brief appearance in the Christmas movie.
It was a soldier who put the issue on the table on Tuesday, during a videoconference between the president and US troops deployed around the world.
“He was a little younger, say,” recalled the former real estate mogul, who had just acquired the Plaza Hotel in New York when several scenes of the film were filmed in the early 1990s.
"Obviously it has become a great success," he continued. “A great Christmas success, one of the biggest. It is an honor to have been involved in something like that ”
Chuck Thompson, CBC spokesman, confirmed on Thursday that the scene with Trump and others were removed from the film's montage five years ago, a common practice in the television broadcast of films for which scenes that are not central to the plot are cut to leave room for the issuance of commercials.
"The scene with Donald Trump was one of many that were cut from the movie because they were not an integral part of the plot," Thompson explained. "These editions were made in 2014, when we originally acquired the film and before Mr. Trump was elected as president."
In addition, Trump joked another tweet: "I guess Justin T does not like much to make him pay for NATO or trade!", Referring to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
