Donald Trump Jr., the homonymous son of the president of the United States, made a hunting trip through Mongolia in August this year, during which he hunted a rare endangered species and considered a national treasure in that country.

It is a species called argali, considered the largest wild sheep in the world, with curved horns that can reach 1.8 meters in length. Inhabits the mountainous regions of central Asia.

Interestingly, Donald Trump Jr. obtained permission to hunt this animal retroactively, one month after the event, and after a meeting with Mongolian President Khaltmaagiin Battulga. The story was unveiled by the American media ProPublica.

As reported, the expedition had resources from both the US and Mongolian governments. Security forces from both countries were employed to give protection to the hunting group on the days they remained in the Asian mountains.

The experts consulted realized that argali hunting is regulated in that Asian country through a permit system that works based on political and economic connections.

Big-game trophy decision will be announced next week but will be very hard pressed to change my mind that this horror show in any way helps conservation of Elephants or any other animal.
