Donald Trump Moves His Residence From New York To Florida

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has changed his official residence and that of his family in New York – where he lived for decades before arriving at the White House – in Florida, a state with greater tax advantages.

Trump confirmed this transfer through his Twitter account after the New York Times reported exclusively to him.

His residence, which to date had been established in his luxurious triplex of the Trump Tower in Manhattan, now becomes Mar-a-Lago, his well-known mansin and private club in Palm Beach, where he spends winter weekends fleeing from fra Washington.

"I appreciate New York and its people, and I always will, but unfortunately, despite the fact that I pay millions of dollars in municipal, state and local taxes every year, the political leaders of the city and the state have treated me very badly. ", affirmed the president.

"A few have treated worse. I hate having to make this decision, but in the end being the best for all concerned," he said.

Trump has never made public his income declarations, breaking with a tradition of decades in American politics, so it is an unknown how many taxes he pays and where.

In fact, the governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, denied that Trump contributes to the state: "It's not that Trump paid taxes here anyway. All yours, Florida."

A source close to Trump told The New York Times that the reason for the relocation of the residence is fiscal.

Florida has no state or inheritance tax, so it has become a very popular destination for millionaires in New York and the northeast of the country to fix their residences, especially since the tax changes that Trump's tax reform brings.

With the change of residence, Trump will not have to pay 9% of New York state tax or 4% of the city, and his successors will avoid the 16% that the state imposes on inheritances exceeding $ 10 million.

In addition, while Trump awakens a great rejection in his native, heavily democratic New York, the state of Florida, where he already won in 2016, is of vital importance for his eventual re-election next year.
