Donald Trump Postpones Designation Of Mexican Cartels As Terrorists At AMLO's Request

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced Friday that he postpones the designation of Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations at the request of his counterpart Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

"At the request of a man I like and respect, and who has worked so well with us, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, we temporarily postpone that designation," Trump announced on Twitter.

All necessary work has been completed to declare Mexican Cartels terrorist organizations. Statutorily we are ready to do so. However, at the request of a man who I like and respect, and has worked so well with us, President Andres Manuel @LopezObrador_ we ….
