The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said Saturday at the annual conference of the American-Israeli Council that the “incredible partnership” forged between the two countries is “stronger than ever” and is “essential for a safer and more secure world fair".
Trump, who was received by the participants in the conference, held in a hotel in Hollywood (Florida), with shouts of "four more years" in support of his re-election in 2020, declared himself the "best friend that Israel has had in the White House. "
He also stressed that his Government will confront with all the means at its disposal anti-Semitism, which he defined as "a poison".RELATED
The president recalled that two years ago he announced that he was changing the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, although many world rulers asked him not to do so and that the media predicted that there would be an outbreak of violence, another “ false news, ”he said, it was not fulfilled.
According to Trump, many of the US presidents before him said they were going to do it but did not keep their promise.
He especially criticized the Adm inistration of Barack Obama, of which he said he did not believe he "loved Israel very much," because he "underestimated and abandoned" the alliance between the two countries.
Much of his speech was dedicated to telling everything that his Administration has done for Israel, interrupted by cheers and shouts from the public.
Thus, he mentioned the recognition of Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which Syria claims, and the end of a policy adopted in 1975 by the US. which considered settlements of Israeli civilians in the West Bank not in accordance with international law.
Trump mentioned and criticized Democratic politicians like Hillary Clinton, his rival in the 2016 elections, but also Senator Elizabeth Warren, whom he referred to as "Pocahontas," who is seeking his party's nomination for the 2020 elections, and Nancy Pelosi, the leader of the House of Representatives.
He also mentioned the political trial he faces, which was received with signs of disgust.
The exit of what he called the "catastrophic" agreement signed by the Obama Administration with a "terrible dictatorship" (alluding to Iran) whose leaders, he said, have said that Israel is a tumor to be removed, was mentioned as another of the evidence of his friendship with Israel.
The reference to US efforts was not lacking. against the Islamic State, which today is "one hundred percent destroyed" and with its leader and founder, Abu Bakr Al Bagdadi, dead, Trump said.
Trump arrived at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport on Saturday to participate in a fundraising dinner of the Republican Party of Florida and deliver his speech at the annual summit of the American-Israeli Council (AIC).
In the 2018 edition of this conference, the Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence, was the keynote speaker.
The conference, which concludes tomorrow Sunday, involves more than 3,000 people, including "leaders, infuencers and activists", from Israel, the United States and the rest of the world, according to the meeting website.
