CHICAGO, Illinois. – The President of the United States gave a lecture on Monday morning where he spoke on various topics at the convention of the International Association of Chiefs of Police in McCormick Place. This is the first time that Donald Trump has visited Chicago since he became president. Since the beginning of his term he has been very critical of the city's policies and the insecurity experienced in the streets.

This October 28, Trump arrived in Chicago around 9:30 am, from there he went to Soldier Field and then arrived at McCormick Place, where he gave a few words to the front of hundreds of public safety leaders in the United States. When they gave him the word, they referred to Trump as a person who has fervently supported police in the United States.

"I am excited to be here," said the president. He says he is making an effort to make the country safer and told attendees that people love them, but that "you don't hear it from fake news." The president mentioned the death of the ISIS leader in an operation that took place over the weekend.

Trump proceeded to talk about the insecurity situation in Chicago. However, he opened the issue by criticizing the city police superintendent. "He's not doing his job," the president said about Eddie Johnson. "I have done more than any other president for the police," said Donald Trump.

Donald Trump said the city police chief did not show up because he is not doing his job. In addition, he questioned the effectiveness of the arms policy in the city, which he has said on several occasions is one of the most severe in the country. "Under Johnson's mandate, they don't protect people," Trump said.

"Afghanistan is a safe place compared to Chicago," Donald Trump continued. The president said that the city needs leaders who give security to citizens and said that in this city more people who are not a citizen are protected. Trump said about the city's political leaders that they are "stupid politicians who have no idea what they are doing."

"Chicago is the worst sanctuary city in the United States," Trump said. "People like Johnson put criminals and immigrants above citizens. And those are their values," the President added. "I want Eddie Johnson to change his values and change them quickly," Trump said.

While Trump carried out his speech, people in the streets of Chicago began to congregate to protest the president's visit. Chicago police deployed elements to the area where the president is and where they will be – according to estimates – thousands of people to protest. In previous years Trump was going to visit Chicago, however the planned events had been canceled. However, he had visited Illinois, which had provoked criticism against him by local politicians.

Trump ended his conference by congratulating agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service. He also commented that hundreds of judges have been added to positions that were vacant since Barack Obama's mandate and reiterated that they are building the wall on the southern border of the United States.

The US president plans to attend a breakfast afterwards that is part of his fundraiser for his campaign.
