Donald Trump Supported The Coup In Bolivia That Overthrew Evo Morales

As expected, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, endorsed the coup d'etat suffered by the Bolivian government of Evo Morales. The president expressed his happiness for conceiving the interruption of the democratic order as a message for the rest of Latin America.

"The United States applauds the Bolivian people for demanding freedom and the Bolivian army for complying with its oath to protect not only a person, but the constitution of Bolivia," Trump said through a statement released by the White House.

For the US president, "these events send a strong signal to the illegitimate regimes in Venezuela and Nicaragua that democracy and the will of the people will always prevail."

Hours before the coup was consummated, the State Department of the northern country itself had requested the resignation of all those involved in the electoral process that led to Morales's victory.
