Donald Trump Urges Brazilians To Vote For Jair Bolsonaro, “the Tropical Trump”

Former US President Donald Trump on Thursday gave “complete and total” support to Brazilian far-right president Jair Bolsonaro, the “tropical Trump” candidate for re-election whom he considers “a formidable guy.”

“President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil, ‘the Tropical Trump’ as he is affectionately called, has done a GREAT job for the wonderful people of Brazil,” Donald Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

“He’s a wonderful man and he has my full and total support!” he adds.

In the footsteps of Trump

Jair Bolsonaro usually affirms, without proof, that the Brazilian electoral system lends itself to fraud, just as Donald Trump denounced irregularities in the last elections in his country in which he was the loser.

Jair Bolsonaro’s criticism of the electronic voting machines that Brazil has used since 1996 have generated versions that the so-called “tropical Trump” will follow in the footsteps of the former US president of not recognizing results if the vote does not go as he wants.

In 2020, supporters of Donald Trump stormed the Capitol in Washington in a failed attempt to prevent Congress from confirming the electoral defeat of the Republican magnate against Democrat Joe Biden.

The Brazilian presidential elections on October 2 are the most polarized in the country’s recent history.

Polls predict that Jair Bolsonaro will lose to leftist former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Lula has also compared Bolsonaro to Donald Trump in order to discredit his rival.

Jair Bolsonaro is “a bad copy of Trump,” the 76-year-old politician said in late August.
