Donald Trump Warned Iraq With "very Large" Sanctions If He Forces US Troops To Leave Their Territory

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, threatened Tehran on Sunday with "major reprisals" in the event of an Iranian attack on US installations in the Middle East.

"If they do something, there will be great reprisals," Trump said aboard the presidential Air Force One, back to Washington from Florida.

In addition, the president threatened Iraq with "very large" sanctions if he forced US troops to leave their territory, after the Baghdad Parliament voted on Sunday for the expulsion of forces deployed by Washington.

"They will make the sanctions against Iran seem almost weak," he added. “We have an extraordinarily expensive air base there. Construction cost billions of dollars. We won't leave if they don't pay us, ”he said.

In an extraordinary session in the presence of the resigned Prime Minister, Adel Abdel Mahdi, Parliament sued to "end the presence of foreign troops" in the country.

The US president also threatened Tehran again with "major reprisals" in the event of an Iranian attack on US facilities in the Middle East in response to the US removal of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.

"If they do something, there will be great reprisals," he said.

Iran's response to the murder of Soleimani "will undoubtedly be military and against military sites," an adviser to the Iranian supreme leader, Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan, said in an interview with CNN on Sunday.

Trump again warned Iran that his retaliation would include attacking cultural sites.

“They have the right to kill our countrymen … and we have no right to touch their cultural sites. It doesn't work that way, ”Trump said.
