Donald Trump Will Attend World Series If He Reaches The Fifth Game

President Donald Trump said Thursday that he plans to attend the World Series on Sunday, should he extend to five games.

The president confirmed his plans during the ceremony of the delivery of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Roger Penske, the businessman and founder of one of the most successful automotive teams in the world.

The Washington Nationals are measured in the Hous ton Astros World Series and the fifth duel is scheduled to take place on Sunday in Washington. The Nationals have a 2-0 lead and could be crowned before Sunday's game.

Trump played baseball in high school at the New York Military Academy and has made the first ceremonial release in several major league games. When asked if he would do it on Sunday, he joked that he would have to use a much heavier armor and would look too burly.

The president is a big fan of the New York Yankees and frequently attended his games, sitting near the team's booth. Last year he received the Astros at the White House after they won the 2017 World Series, and said his triumph was even more special after the ravages caused by Hurricane Harvey in Houston.

Trump would be the first acting president to attend a World Series game since George W. Bush made the first ceremonial launch at Yankee Stadium before the third game of 2001. As a former majority owner of the Texas Rangers, Bush knew several of The players.

Other presidents who have attended the World Series are Woodrow Wilson (1915), Calvin Coolidge (1924), Herbert Hoover (1929, 1930, 1931), Franklin Roosevelt (1933, 1936), Dwight Eisenhower (1956), Jimmy Carter (1979 ) and Ronald Reagan (1983).
