Washington, D.C. – President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday that the federal government will not extend social distancing measures beyond Thursday.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that the coronavirus standards will “dissipate” due to the work being done by governors in their states.
Vice President Mike Pence noted that orders issued 45 days ago have been incorporated into state guidelines for the gradual reopening of their economies.
RELATEDThe rules, which were to apply for 15 days and were extended for another 30 days, included exhorting people to work from home, avoiding restaurants and traveling. Older people and those with serious health problems were advised to isolate.
According to Johns Hopkins University, 1,023,304 people in the United States are infected with the new coronavirus.
