“I extend my gratitude to President Donald Trump because he helped carry out this agreement, which I consider to be beneficial for Canada, the United States and our country. This gives us a lot of certainty, generates a lot of confidence, there are unbeatable conditions for investing in Mexico, for companies to be installed, for jobs to be created, for workers to improve wages in Mexico and for well-being in our country, ”he said.

López Obrador reported that he also spoke with Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, who let him know that there is support for the T-MEC.

“Canada is missing, I already spoke with the Prime Minister, they are supporting, they have a special situation in parliament, it will take a little while in Canada, but it is a matter of parliamentary practice, there is no opposition in Canada, the opposition is not significant to the treaty. So it will be approved, that is where it will take more time for its parliamentary procedures, but yesterday was very important in terms of trade agreements, ”he said.

Mexican businessmen, he added, are "very happy", because with the signing of the treaty, tariff problems are resolved.

I was talking with Mexican steel businessmen who now benefit because they are not going to have these tariff barriers to their exports to the United States, and so on in general, ”he added.
