Donald Trump's Campaign Criticizes Google's Policy On Political Announcements

Washington – The re-election campaign of US President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee launched harsh criticism against Google for making it harder for politicians to direct them to specific types of people.

They say the change will lead to less voter participation at the polls.

Google has said that, starting in January, advertisers can only direct political ads in the United States based on more general categories, such as sex, age and zip code. Currently, they can be directed to more specific groups, such as political affiliation.

But the Trump campaign and Republican groups say Trump has created the largest digital operation in politics, so the decision "will disproportionately impact the Trump operation and all the Republican candidates and organizations that derive their strength from it."
