During her talk with Lucienne Gigante, co-founder of Animus, Ednita undressed her heart and recounted the dark days lived as a woman and professional, but always ended with the reaffirmation that from any deep place you can get ahead.

“They are those mistakes, horrors, that we make in many cases. It was an overconfidence in my partner. I got married very young and he decided to take the reins of what my job was, including the economic aspect. It broke me, I ran out of a penny. I return to Puerto Rico with shame. I didn't have anything to live with or eat, but I had my talent, my passion and my desire intact, ”he said.

The singer stressed that she returned to her parents' house who received her without asking for explanations, and her father gave her a savings book she had kept for some time. Then, his success “You without me” came out, which returned it to the top.

“The important thing in life, nobody can take it away, in my case it was my voice, my music, my passion and my talent, and that was what would take me out of the dark moment I was living. Money comes and goes, but if you give yourself body and soul, life rewards you, ”he said. "You without me 'comes when I was in a gap, but the challenge of starting from scratch, of having nothing came into my life, and life rewarded me because I had commitment and the pants, the ovaries, to throw away."

Ednita said that this experience also helped him to learn how to manage his money, since when he is an artist there is no consistency in earnings and the work is a little harder.

During her participation, the singer related how she began her career as a singer as a child and the pride she felt as she was the first Puerto Rican who entered through the wide door of the Plaza Hotel in New York.

“A place where, historically, they were not Hispanic. They worked in the kitchen or in maintenance. On one stage, I was the first, and it was an extraordinary experience to have the opportunity to take a piece of Puerto Rico and enter through the front door. It was very important to me, ”he said.

These words of empowerment reached all the public who enjoyed the fifth edition of this congress that is aimed primarily at employees, executives, entrepreneurs, future entrepreneurs, volunteers or anyone who wants to grow and make a difference. Animus is an innovation summit designed to inspire women to reach their highest level of personal and professional development.
