GENEVA (AP) – Roger Federer and his wife Mirka announced that they donated 1 million Swiss francs ($ 1.02 million) “to the most vulnerable families” in Switzerland due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Federer wrote on his social networks that “we all live in a difficult time and no one should be left helpless.”RELATED
The announcement was his first message on his Twitter and Instagram accounts in more than three weeks.
Federer had his right knee operated on five weeks ago and is confident to play again in June for the turf tournaments tour. Men’s tennis has been paralyzed due to the spread of the virus.
Federer added that both he and his wife hope that “others will join in helping more needy families.”
