Floods In Oregon Begin To Diminish

Pendleton, Oregon – The waters that cover the flooded roads in northeastern Oregon began to withdraw, allowing residents to return to their homes and assess the damage.

A strip of approximately 10 miles of Interstate 84 south of Hermiston, Oregon, was still closed on Sunday due to flood damage, and authorities say it could take another week before it is reopened. Cars are being forced to take a detour.

Oregon National Guard troops aboard two helicopters transported 21 people to safe places on Saturday, and authorities reported the disappearance of a 62-year-old woman living in one of the areas affected by the floods.
