George Michael's Sister Dies Just Three Years After The Singer

London, Dec. 27 (EFE) .- Melanie Panayiotou, the 55-year-old sister of the late British singer George Michael, died unexpectedly on December 25, just three years after the musician, the family announced Friday through her lawyer, John Reid

According to British media, Melanie was found dead on Christmas day by their older sister, Yioda, in her house in the London neighborhood of Hampstead.

Michael, whose real name was Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, died at age 53 on December 25, 2016 from natural causes, although during his life he had various health and drug problems.


In a statement, Reid confirms that Melanie "has died suddenly" and asks that the privacy of the family be respected "in these sad moments."

The London Metropolitan Police (Met) reported that they went to Hampstead's home on Wednesday at 7:35 p.m. after receiving a call from the ambulance service about "the sudden death of a woman in her fifties."

The Met said the death "is not considered suspicious" and urged to wait for the routine report of the forensic court.

In the days before the third anniversary of the death of the co-founder of the Wham duo !, his family had posted a message on his website telling fans to continue 'doing good deeds in his memory'. EFE
