George Scores 21, Clippers Beat Blazers 102-90

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Paul George scored 21 points as the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Portland Trail Blazers 120-90 on Monday night for their third straight loss.

Marcus Morris Jr. added 17 points and Luke Kennard, who started in the Clippers’ starting five for the first time this season, finished with 15.


Jusuf Nurkic added 31 points for Portland and Norman Powell finished with 29, his best figures of the season.

The score was tight throughout the game. Brandon Boston Jr. hit a triple early in the fourth that put the Clippers up 82-76, but CJ Elleby responded with a triple to keep the Blazers in the race.

Portland approached 88-86 on free throws by Powell with just five minutes remaining. After a layup from Reggie Jackson, Nurkic made another basket.

A dunk by George put the Clippers up 92-88 with 2:30 left. He added another basket and the Blazers couldn’t cut any further. Jackson finished with 16 points.

The Blazers played their fourth game without star Damian Lillard with an abdominal injury. Anfernee Simons was left out with a sprained right ankle, while CJ McCollum did not play with a rib contusion.
