Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced spoke today, Friday, directly with President Donald Trump, who, according to the first executive, expressed support for the emergency that the island is going through after the earthquakes recorded last days.
The conversation occurred through the intervention of Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott, who toured with the president and the commissioner residing in Washington D.C., Jenniffer González, some of the municipalities most affected by the intense seismic activity.
“Thanks to Senator Scott, I just had a call with Mr. President Donald Trump personally, who has expressed his support for Puerto Rico and we have expressed the support of our people for the rapid action, not only of the initial declaration but of that statement that we are going to request about a major disaster, ”said the governor at the end of a tour of the Costa Sur plant in Guayanilla, which suffered severe damage from the earthquake on Tuesday.RELATED
Likewise, Vázquez Garced was accompanied by the executive director of the Electric Power Authority, José Ortiz, and other agency heads.
During the press conference, it was reported that PREPA has allegedly recovered up to 80% of its generation capacity.
