Hazel Ortiz Will Take The Fantasy Of The Vejigantes To Venezuela

Puerto Rican Hazel Ortiz, Miss Grand Puerto Rico 2019, set off yesterday night, Tuesday, to Venezuela to represent the island in the seventh edition of Miss Grand International, where Puerto Rico has positioned itself four times in the Top 5.

"Yes, I go alone physically, but I do not go alone spiritually. I carry an army with me. All this 100 x 35 and a little more because not only are the Puerto Ricans here on the island but all those people who feel identified with this story," Ortiz said in a video he posted on his social networks.

The Puerto Rican made a first stop in the Dominican Republic and today will touch Venezuelan soil to start the activities of the contest.

In the competition of typical costumes, Hazel will wear the fantasy of the bladders. The mask he will use was made by the Ponce artist Kenneth Meléndez and the trousseau was the work of the designers Ángel Guzmán and Abimael Ortiz.

It will be held next Monday, October 14.

"I know that this experience will be one of much personal, professional and cultural growth. I thank the organization Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico, for making this reality that I am living possible, but above all for allowing me to be an ambassador of Puerto Rico at the international level. I always treasure being able to represent my country and be a spokesperson for Puerto Rican women, "he said through written statements.

This is the first time that a contest considered 'Grand Slam' has been held in Venezuela.

During the past 6 years Puerto Rican representatives have achieved their classification, obtaining in 2013 the first crown with Janelee Chaparro. Then in 2014 and 2015; Rebeca Valentín and Isamar Campos, respectively, were semifinalists. Meanwhile, Madison Anderson Berrios (2016), Brenda Azaria Jiménez (2017) and Nicole M. Colón (2018) repeated in the position of third finalist.
