Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said Thursday that his company will never support the pound cryptocurrency, announced by Facebook in June.
"Hell no," he said during a press conference in New York, in response to the question of whether Twitter could be associated with the Libra Foundation, a nonprofit organization behind that digital currency, picks up The Verge.
"It is not an open Internet standard, born on the Internet. It originated in the intention of a company, and is not consistent with what I personally believe and with what I want our company to defend," he explained, and instead proposed using currencies more decentralized digital.RELATED
"I think the Internet is something like an emerging nation-state, in almost every way. It almost has a currency now in the form of cryptocurrency and bitcoin," Dorsey said.
