Initially Tesla had predicted that this happened only at the end of 2020. However, the optimization of its processes, the increase in the pace of execution and the expansion of its capabilities have changed the landscape.
The electric car manufacturer Tesla will advance the production of its new vehicle, the Model Y, according to its earnings report for the third quarter of 2019 released this week.
The company claims to be "ahead of schedule" with respect to the preparations of its sports utility at its plant in Fremont, California (USA). Therefore, it plans that the units can be delivered to their customers in the summer of 2020.RELATED
Initially Tesla had predicted that this would happen only at the end of that year, but everything is moving faster. This is due in large part to the optimization of its processes, the increase in the pace of execution and the expansion of its capabilities thanks to the megaplant in Shanghai (China), which will begin with the trial production this month.
In its report, the US manufacturer notes that the per capita expenditure per unit for the Model Y could be approximately 50% lower than that of the Model 3, due to "major advances" in improving "capital efficiency." It also expects to see a "very low production cost and better profit margins".
"I think (the Model Y) will be an incredible product and very well received. In my opinion, it is likely that it will outperform the Model S, Model X and Model 3 combined in sales," says the company's CEO and founder, Elon Musk
Tesla presented its new electric vehicle last March in Hawthorne (California). According to Musk, it can carry up to seven passengers and has 20 cubic meters of cargo space, being comparable to a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but it will be handled like a sports car. It will be able to reach a speed of 100 kilometers per hour in 3.7 seconds and will have a base price of $ 39,000 and a range of 451 kilometers.
