The D-backs placed infielder / outfielder Ketel Marte on the 10-day disabled list Thursday after the Dominican injured his right hamstring the night before trying to get to starter safely.
In a corresponding move, infielder / outfielder Andrew Young was raised from the club’s reserve pool.
Marte reported to the visitors’ clubhouse in Denver Thursday morning with his right hamstring still sore from the night before, when he had to be assisted off the field in the sixth inning.
The Quisqueyano was trying to get to the starter safely after hitting a ground ball to the infield in the sixth inning when he stopped before reaching the pad and grabbed the area of the right hamstring.
“He’s here at the stadium and he’s receiving treatment and he’s still being evaluated,” D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said ahead of his team’s game against the Rockies Thursday afternoon. “But the pain is still there, there are some things we were hoping for.”
The team is scheduled to return to Phoenix after the game, and Marte will undergo further testing on Friday.
Marte had started Wednesday’s game leading the National League in batting (.522), hits (12) and doubles (4).
