LIVE: Astronauts Perform The First Spacewalk Of Expedition 61

Christina Koch and Andrew Morgan leave the International Space Station to install the new lithium-ion batteries, delivered last week aboard Japan's HTV-8 cargo plane, in the Port-6 lattice structure.

In addition, on this day Koch completed 200 days in his extended mission aboard the space station, which will last up to 300 days. After this period, the astronaut will set a new record for the longest space flight performed by a woman, surpassing the Peggy Whitson brand, who completed 289 days off Earth between 2016 and 2017.
