Christina Koch and Andrew Morgan leave the International Space Station to install the new lithium-ion batteries, delivered last week aboard Japan's HTV-8 cargo plane, in the Port-6 lattice structure.
In addition, on this day Koch completed 200 days in his extended mission aboard the space station, which will last up to 300 days. After this period, the astronaut will set a new record for the longest space flight performed by a woman, surpassing the Peggy Whitson brand, who completed 289 days off Earth between 2016 and 2017.RELATED
The expedition is led by ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano, who became the third European and the first Italian to command the IEE. In October, four additional spacewalks are planned to continue the activation of the new batteries.
