Lorenzo Sanz, Former President Of Real Madrid, Dies At 76

(CNN Spanish) – Lorenzo Sanz, former president of Real Madrid died on Saturday in Madrid, reported the Spanish Football League on its official page.

Sanz was president of the merengue club between 1995 and 2000. During his tenure, the club achieved seven titles, 2 European Cups, 1 Intercontinental Cup,
1 Spanish Soccer League, 1 Spanish Soccer Super Cup, 1 Spanish Basketball League and 1 Spanish Basketball League Recopa.

He got the signings of star players such as Montenegrin Pedrag Mijatovic, Croatian Davor Ć uker, Dutch Clarence Seedorf and Brazilian Roberto Carlos.

Sanz is remembered for being the president of the Blanco club that managed to lift the seventh European Cup after a 32-year drought of failing to lift the legendary European Champions League.

For its part, Real Madrid stated in a statement that “given the current circumstances, Real Madrid will render as soon as possible the recognition it deserves.”
