PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – CJ McCollum scored 32 points, Damian Lillard had 31 and the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Dallas Mavericks 125-119 on Friday night.
The stars of each team, Lillard and Luka Doncic, who had 38 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, had a great performance Friday night. But Lillard got a lot more help from his teammate after Kristaps Porzingis finished with just 11 points and didn’t hit a field goal until early in the third quarter.
The teams will meet again on Sunday.
With 4:25 minutes to go in the second quarter, Porzingis was booked for a technical foul after discussing a decision with the officials. Seconds later, Doncic also received a technical foul. Lillard made both free throws and the Blazers went at halftime with a 64-60 lead.
Lillard collided with two Mavericks players with 2:37 minutes remaining in the third quarter, and he stayed on the ground holding his left knee for a few minutes, but remained in the game.
