Mexican Government Enlists Tribute To José José At The Palacio De Bellas Artes

Mexico is ready to pay tribute to José José, his favorite interpreter.

On Wednesday, October 9, the ashes of the famous "Prince of the Song" will arrive at the International Airport of Mexico City. There will depart the funeral procession that will accompany the interpreter of "El Triste" and "Almohada", among many other successes, to his last abode.

At 10 in the morning (local time) the homage present in the emblematic Palace of Fine Arts will begin. The Ministry of Culture, the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL) and the Government of Mexico City prepared an artistic program that will include the participation of members of the National Symphony Orchestra, in addition to the intervention of members of the Study of Opera of Fine Arts and the Saloma Quartet.


From 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. an access circuit to the Palace of Fine Arts will be open to the general public, to say goodbye to the protagonist of the films “Forgive me all”, “Gavilán or Paloma” and “ Taste of me".

Later, the ashes of the international singer will be transferred to the Basilica of Guadalupe, where a mass will be officiated for his eternal rest.

The serenade with mariachi will take place in Colonia Clavería, in the Mayor's Office of Azcapotzalco. This is the popular neighborhood in which José Rómulo Sosa Ortiz grew up and where a statue is in his honor.

Finally, the funeral caravan will go to the French Pantheon where a private ceremony will be held to bury the ashes of José José, along with those of his mother, Margarita Ortiz.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that it has offered the singer's family consular assistance and support for the expedited issuance of the necessary documents for the repatriation of José José's remains to Mexican territory.

José Joel, the oldest son of singer José José, confirmed that the cremation of his father's remains was postponed 48 hours, with the intention of convincing his sister Sarita to gather the ashes of his father singer José José in a single urn .

“We officially confirm by this means that thanks to the team of lawyers and friends who are supporting us, the cremation of our father José José's body has been postponed for 48 hours,” José Joel published through his Instagram account.

José José received his first tribute on Sunday, October 6. It took place at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium in Florida and was a private tribute. José José's body was transferred in a golden tuna, from the funeral home Caballero Rivero Little Havana, in Miami. Friends and family of the singer received him with applause and with the song "Already the past, past", performed by the Mariachi Mexico International.

During the present body ceremony, Sara Salazar, the singer's third and final wife, was accompanied by Puerto Rican journalist Luis Ernesto Berrios, as well as the singer's youngest daughter, Sara Sosa, along with her husband Yimmy Ortiz.
