The Government of Guatemala announced that it will be President Jimmy Morales who will meet with his counterpart Donald Trump and other officials tomorrow in the United States, and not President-elect Alejandro Giammattei, as mentioned in some media.RELATED
As explained in a statement by the Government of Guatemala, the visit will be tomorrow Tuesday and will discuss issues of irregular migration, economic development, investment opportunities, technical and financial cooperation for the fight against organized crime, transnational, illicit traffic of goods and people , citizen security, boost economic growth to reduce poverty, governance, fight against corruption among others.
“In the meeting between the Heads of State, which will be held in The White House, the Vice President of the United States of America, Mike Pence, the Secretary of the Department of National Security Chad Wolf, and presidential advisers Mick Mulvaney, Robert will also participate O'Brien, Jared Kushner and Stephen Miller, ”notes government information.
In addition, they report a meeting between the wife of President Morales and the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump.
Hours earlier, the media had announced that it would be Giammattei who would participate in the meeting with Trump, however, his communication team said that it would not be him but his appointed chancellor who would attend a meeting in the US, as part of the program America grows.
This would be the second meeting between Morales and Trump and this would be a few days after the Asylum Cooperation Agreement (ACA) has been implemented between the two countries.
The meeting stands out because it could also be the last internationally for President Morales, who will deliver the position on January 14.
