Nepal And China Set The Height Of Everest At 8,848.86 Meters

Nepal and China have set the height of Everest at 8,848.86 meters on Tuesday, as revealed in a joint announcement after collaborating on a measurement that ends years of controversy and questions about how long the highest peak in the world measures.

“The height of Mount Everest is 8,848.86 meters,” Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in a joint announcement from Beijing; in a video conference with Nepalese Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali from Kathmandu.
