#NoEsBroma: Mexico's Presidential Plane Is Raffled At $ 26 The Ticket

The #NoEsBroma label became a national trend in Mexico this Friday after the announcement of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador of a possible raffle of the presidential plane through the National Lottery, which would issue 6 million tickets at 500 pesos (about $ 25) each one.

"This is not easy because if the president is not going to use it then which company uses such an airplane. The truth was that this was an excess. This should not have been done. They should not have bought this plane, not even the richest in the world and extravagant , they no longer have these planes, "the president argued in his morning conference.

The only condition is to obtain the equivalent of 130 million dollars that the UN determined as the value of the aircraft, a Boeing 787, which López Obrador put up for sale, without success until now, from the first month of its management.

Users reacted with laughter, skepticism and even annoyance to one of the options offered by the president to get rid of the Boeing 787, a luxury symbol that López Obrador intends to combat with his austerity policy.

"I saw myself when I won the National Lottery," the user @SamuelDavo shared with an image of the American socialist Paris Hilton in front of the plane with the caption "Arriving at the office when I win the raffle."

Although also with humor, other citizens backed the president for considering that the aircraft, acquired by his predecessors, is an excessive expense that represents the "fifís", a Mexican word to make fun of the upper class people.

"I saw myself winning the #Presidential Plane. I'm going to turn it into a restaurant for the 'fifís' and thus get more benefit and utilities from this white elephant," tweeted @ LuisGlez72 with an image of the animated Simpsons program.

Others took the president's words more seriously when questioning the feasibility of the proposal.

"Suppose you win the presidential plane in the lottery: Have you thought about how much you will pay for maintenance? If Lopez could not sell it, what would make you think that whoever wins it could sell it?" Argued @_Alexandder_.

Meanwhile, opposition politicians and critics of the current government accused the president of having occurrences for not fulfilling his promise to sell the aircraft, which López Obrador has offered, without success until now, since the first days of his administration, in December 2018.

Despite the popularity of the austerity samples exhibited by the head of state when traveling on commercial flights, opponents have criticized him for not using the device to travel efficiently when his presence is required in an emergency.

"It was evident that the occurrences are the engine of creation of projects of the Government of Mexico. Sell tickets to raffle the #Presidential Plane? We want real proposals, well examined, that really lead to development," wrote the left Part of the Revolution Democratic (PRD).

The draw is one of the five options offered by the president this Friday to finally get rid of the aircraft.

The other alternatives analyzed by the Mexican Government are to sell it to an anonymous buyer in the United States, exchange it with Washington for medical equipment, offer it "in parts" to 12 Mexican companies and rent it for hours.

"This is not easy because, if the president is not going to use it, then which company uses such an airplane. The truth was that this was an excess. This should not have been done. They should not have bought this plane, not even the richest in the world and extravagant, they no longer have these planes, "the president argued in his morning conference.
