Panthers Had Fun On Social Networks With Exchange For Sam Darnold

Quarterback Sam Darnold went on a trade from Jets to Panthers, and Carolina took the opportunity to announce the transfer in a humorous way

Sam Darnold has joined the Carolina Panthers via trade.

The New York Jets traded the third overall pick in the 2018 draft to the Panthers for a sixth-round pick in 2021 and a second-round pick and a fourth-round pick in 2022.

Darnold, a USC graduate who won the 2017 Rose Bowl, has played three seasons for the Jets, throwing for 8,097 yards with a 59.8 completion percentage, 45 touchdowns and 39 interceptions. Darnold has missed parts of each of his professional seasons with a foot injury, a shoulder problem and mononucleosis.

Although Jets fans might feel troubled by Darnold’s departure, the Panthers Twitter account was quite cheerful about the whole thing, including a reference to an old “Monday Night Football” meme where Darnold was listed as “OUT INDEFINITELY – MONONUCLEOSIS”.
