Utah – A Utah highway patrol officer was surprised on Monday by stopping a car that had strayed so far that he thought its occupant needed medical attention, but it turned out that the driver was just five years old.
Officer Rick Morgan said the boy did not respond to his light signals, but stopped when he blew the siren on Interstate 15 in Ogden.
“I approached the vehicle expecting to find someone who needed an ambulance or paramedics,” Morgan said.
RELATEDOne of our Troopers in Weber Co. initiated a traffic stop on what he thought was an impaired driver. Turns out it was this young man, age 5, somehow made his way up onto the freeway in his parents’ car. But when the window was rolled down, Morgan said it was pretty clear that “a clearly underage driver was behind the wheel.”
The boy was sitting on the edge of the seat to reach the brake pedal, the police added.
When asked, the boy said he was going to his sister’s house – in California – Morgan said. He told another agent that he wanted to buy a Lamborghini when he got there and showed him his wallet with the money to get the car of his dreams: three dollars.
The authorities contacted the parents, who took care of the minor and the vehicle.
