PRIMARY – Beating In Favor Of Audits And Manual Counting To Guarantee Results In 2020 Elections

The president of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), José Paliza, said Tuesday that it favors an audit of the equipment used by the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and that the manual counting of the votes be carried out, as a guarantee for the elections of the year 2020.

“We agree with observers from Coppal and PC, to have greater guarantees for the 2020 elections, to carry out the audits in a timely manner; including manual counting. Any process at the end must be evaluated objectively, ”Paliza wrote on his Twitter account, commenting on information.

Yesterday, María Dolores Gandulfo, the coordinator of the team of observers of the Permanent Conference of Political Parties of Latin America and the Caribbean (Copppal), explained that it favored the audit to be carried out by manual vote counting.

Former President Leonel Fernández accused the Central Electoral Board (JCE) of carrying out a fraud in the automated counting of the votes to give Gonzalo Castillo as winner in the primaries of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD).

On the contrary, within the PRM none of the candidates has expressed a disagreement with the preliminary results. Luis Abinader was the winner of the presidential candidacy of that party with more than 70% of the votes.
