MONACO (AP) — A weakened Paris Saint-Germain lost 3-1 to Monaco in the French League on Saturday, three days before they played Bayern Munich, their second consecutive defeat in all competitions.
Monaco moved into third, seven points behind beleaguered PSG, after Marseille beat Clermont 2-0 to move into second place.
RELATEDPSG didn’t lose any competitions from August to December, but they were fragile. He lost league games to Lens and Rennes last month, and the French lost to Marseille in the round of 16 of his Cup on Wednesday.
“We’ve conceded a lot of goals since the season started,” said coach Christophe Galtier.
Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe were sidelined by injury, but Neymar played.
On Tuesday, the Parisian side will face Bayern in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
Wissam Ben Yedder claimed a double in Monaco. His blocked shot ricocheted towards Aleksandr Golovin, who beat PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma four minutes later.
Ben Yedder scored his second goal after 18 minutes as Monaco put the pressure on. Klepin Diatta stole the ball from El Shadayu Bisiab before Ben Yedder finished with a diagonal shot to the far post.
Teenage midfielder Warren Zaire Emery brought PSG closer and sent the ball behind goal in the 39th minute after an assist from Juan Bernat.
However, Ben Yedder restored Monaco’s two-point lead with a curling shot just before half-time. He led the way with his 14 goals alongside Lance striker Forambalogn.
The kick-off of the match between Clermont and Marseille has been delayed by 45 minutes. Police used tear gas to stop violence in front of the stadium.
Some players had trouble breathing and referee Rudy Bouquet sent both teams back to the locker room.
Chilean striker Alexis Sánchez gave Marseille the lead in the 44th minute when Muhammad Cham raised his arm to deflect a Ruslan Malinowski free-kick before scoring the penalty.
Sanchez added his second in the 81st minute, grabbing the rebound and scoring with a header after goalkeeper Molly Diaw took the first shot.
