From the White House
Washington, DC, December 17, 2019RELATED
To the honorable Nancy Pelosi, president of the House of Representatives
I am writing to express my most strident and powerful protest in opposition to the partisan crusade of political judgment that is being promoted by Democrats in the House of Representatives. This process represents an unconstitutional and unprecedented abuse of power by Democratic lawmakers, one without equal in two and a half centuries of American legislative history.
The imputations for a political trial presented by the commission of legal processes are not recognizable under any standard of constitutional theories or interpretations, nor jurisprudence. They do not include crime, wrongdoing or any offense. They have downgraded its importance to the horrendous word of impeachment!
By continuing their invalid procedure, they are violating their oaths, breaking their loyalty to the Constitution and declaring an open war against American democracy. They dare to invoke the names of the founding fathers in their maneuver to annul the elections when their spiteful actions show an unlimited contempt for the founding process of the United States and while their atrocious behavior threatens to destroy just what the founding fathers dedicated their lives. to build.
Worse than the offense against the founding fathers is the affront to faithful Americans by repeatedly saying “I pray for the president,” knowing that their expression is not true unless they say it with negative connotation. What you are doing is terrible, but you will have to live with it and not me!
His first charge of "abuse of power" is an insincere invention, without foundation, without merit, the product of his imagination. They know that I had a completely innocent conversation with the president of Ukraine. Then I had a second conversation that has been incorrectly cited, misrepresented and misrepresented fraudulently. Fortunately a transcript of the conversation was taken, and they know from that transcript (which we immediately made available) that the paragraph in question was faultless. I told President (Volodimir) Zelensky: "I would like you to do us a favor, however, because our country has suffered a lot and Ukraine knows it well." I said to do us a favor, not to do me a favor, and to do it to the country not to a campaign. Then I mentioned the attorney general of the United States. Every time I speak with a foreign leader I put the interests of the United States first, as I did with President Zelensky.
It is returning from a disagreement regarding policies between two branches of the Government a prosecutable offense and that is not so much more legitimate than if the executive power charged the members of Congress with crimes for legally exercising their legislative power.
They know very well that Vice President Biden took advantage of the power of his office and $ 1 billion in US aid funds to force Ukraine to fire the prosecutor who was investigating the company that paid his son millions of dollars. They know it because (Joe) Biden boasted it in a video. Biden said bluntly: "I told them:‘ they are not going to get the billions. " If they don't fire the attorney, they won't get the money. Well, well, they fired him. ” Now they want to prosecute me by falsely accusing me of doing what Joe Biden has admitted that he did.
President Zelensky has said several times that I did nothing and that there was no pressure. He also emphasized that it was "a good call," that he "felt no pressure," and explicitly said: "nobody gave me a push." The Ukrainian Foreign Minister stated clearly: "I have never seen a direct link between investigations and security assistance." He also said that "there was no pressure." Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, a Ukrainian supporter who met privately with President Zelensky, has said that: “At no time at that meeting… was there any mention by Zelensky or any Ukrainian that they felt under pressure from do something in exchange for military assistance. ” There have been many meetings between representatives of Ukraine and our country. Not once did Ukraine complain about pressure, not once! Ambassador Sondland testified to what I said: “There was no quid pro quo. I want nothing. I want nothing. I told President Zelensky to do the right thing and keep campaign promises. ”
The second charge, the alleged "obstruction to Congress," is absurd and dangerous. The Democrats of the Lower House want to prosecute the legitimately elected president of the United States for exercising privileges based on the Constitution and that have been exercised in a bipartisan manner by previous governments of both parties throughout the history of our country. By that standard, any American president would have been tried several times. As the law professor Jonathan Turley, a liberal court, warned when he appeared before the Democrats of Congress: “I cannot stress this further: if they prosecute a president, if they make the crimes of responsibility not be dealt with in court, that is an abuse of power It is his abuse of power. They will be doing exactly what they criticize the president did. ”
Everyone, including you, really knows what is happening here. Your candidate (Hillary Clinton) lost the elections in 2016, with a beating at the Electoral College (306 to 227), and you and your party did not recover from the defeat. They have developed a comprehensive case from what many in the media call Trump's Imbalance Syndrome and, sadly, they will never get over it! They are indisposed and unable to accept the verdict that emerged from the polls during the 2016 great election. So they have spent three years in a row trying to undermine the will of the American people and cancel their votes. They consider democracy as their enemy!
President Pelosi, admitted just last week in a public forum that the effort to prosecute her party has lasted "two and a half years", long before they learned that there was a phone call with Ukraine. 19 minutes after I took the oath, The Washington Post published a story with the headline: "The campaign to prosecute President Trump begins." Less than three months after my protest, Representative Maxine Waters said: "I will peel every day until I am prosecuted." The Democrats of the Lower House presented the first proposal of a political trial against me just a few months after my protest, which will be considered one of the best decisions of this country, the dismissal of James Comey (see the reports of the inspector general), who the world now knows is one of the most corrupt policemen who has lived in our country. A representative who ranting and raving, Rashida Tlaib, declared a few hours after taking office: "We are going to enter and we are going to prosecute the son of ****". Representative Al Green said in May: "I worry that if we do not prosecute this president, he will be re-elected." Again, you and your allies said and did all these things before hearing about something from President Zelensky or anything related to Ukraine. As you know well, this impulse to prosecute has nothing to do with Ukraine or with the completely appropriate conversation I had with its new president. It only has to do with his attempt to undo the 2016 election and steal the 2020 election!
Congressman Adam Schiff cheated and lied several times and to date, even fraudulently inventing himself, out of nowhere, my conversation with President Zelensky of Ukraine; He read his fantasy language to Congress as if I had said it. His lies and disappointments without shame, which begin with the deception about Russia, is one of the main reasons why we are where we are today.
You and your country are desperate to distract from the extraordinary economic state of the country, the great boom in jobs, historical levels of the stock exchanges, growing confidence and citizens who flourish. His party simply cannot compete with our record: seven million new jobs; the lowest level of unemployment for black Americans, Hispanics and Asians; a rebuilt army; a veterans association completely reformed with the power of choice and accountability to our great veterans; more than 170 federal judges and two magistrates of the Supreme Court; historical cuts in taxes and regulations; the elimination of the individual mandate of medical expense insurance; the first drop in prescription drug prices in half a century; the first new arm of the Armed Forces since 1947, the Space Force; strong protection of the Second Amendment; criminal justice reform; the defeat of the Islamic State caliphate and the killing of the world's number one terrorist leader, Al-Baghdadi; the replacement of the disastrous NAFTA trade agreement with the wonderful T-MEC (with Mexico and Canada); a phase one trade agreement milestone with China; large new trade agreements with Japan and South Korea; the withdrawal of the terrible nuclear agreement with Iran; the cancellation of the unfair and expensive Paris Climate Agreements; to become the main energy producer in the world; recognize the Israeli capital to open the US Embassy in Jerusalem, and the recognition of Israeli sovereignty in the Golan Heights; a colossal reduction of illegal border crossings, the end of the capture and release policy and the construction of the border wall: that is only a beginning and there is much more to list. They cannot defend their extreme policies – open borders, mass migration, high crime rates, a socialized health system, the destruction of the US energy industry, late abortions paid by taxpayers, the elimination of the Second Amendment, theories of ultra-left laws and justice and the constant partisan obstruction of the common good and common sense.
There is nothing I would rather do than stop referring to your party as Democrats Who Do Nothing. Unfortunately, I don't think they give me the opportunity to do so.
After three years of unfair and baseless investigations, with 45 million dollars spent, 18 enraged Democratic prosecutors, the entire FBI force when it had a proven incompetent and corrupt leadership, they haven't found ANYTHING! Few people in such high positions have endured or passed such tests. They do not know, nor do they care, the enormous damage and pain they have subjected to the wonderful and affectionate members of my family. They have already conducted a false investigation against the president of the United States and now they are doing it again.
There are few people who could have dealt with the punishment imposed at this time while doing so much for the United States and its citizens to be successful. But instead of putting the country first, they have decided to further disgrace our nation. They failed completely with Mueller's report because there was nothing to find, so they decided to take the next hoax on their way, the call with Ukraine, even though it was a perfect call. And by the way, when I speak with foreign countries there are many people present, with permission on both sides, to hear the call.
You are the ones who interfere with the American elections. You are the ones who undermine American democracy. You are the ones who obstruct justice. You are the ones who afflict our republic with pain and suffering for personal, political and partisan benefits.
Before the prosecution farce, it was the Russian witch hunt. Despite the evidence to the contrary, and despite the truth, you and your representatives assured that my campaign was colluded with the Russians; a serious, malicious and defamatory lie, a falsehood like no other. They forced our country to be agitated and afflicted due to a completely fabricated history, which was illegally purchased from a foreign spy of Hillary Clinton and the National Democratic Committee to abuse our democracy. However, when their monstrous deception was denied and the Democratic conspiracy dissolved as dust they did not apologize. They did not retract. They did not ask to be forgiven. They showed no remorse or a capacity for reflection. Instead they pursued their next defamatory and vicious crusade; they made an attempt to slander and incriminate an innocent person. All this was motivated by personal political calculations. His presidency and his party are hostages of the most radical and deranged representatives of the extreme left. Each of its members is terrified of facing a socialist opponent in their primaries; That is what drives political judgment. Look at the possible rival of representative Nadler. Look at your own case and that of others. Do not sink the country along with your party.
If he really cared about freedom for our nation, then he would devote his extensive investigative resources to exposing the real truth of the FBI's horrific abuses of power before, during and after the 2016 election, including the use of spies against my campaign. , the presentation of false evidence before a court on foreign surveillance (FISA) and the concealment of exculpatory evidence in order to incriminate the innocent. The FBI has great and honest people, but their leadership was inept and corrupt. I would think they are personally shocked by these revelations, because at their press conference the day they announced that the political trial would advance, he said that this effort was directly linked to the Deceived Russia Deception; He declared twice that "all roads lead to Putin," although he knows that this is a resounding lie. I have been tougher with Russia than what President Obama did not consider to be.
Any member of Congress who votes in favor of prosecuting – despite the truth, all the facts, evidence and legal principles – demonstrates how much he despises voters and how much he really detests the US constitutional order. Our founding fathers feared the tribalism of partisan politics and you are fulfilling those worst fears.
What is worse, I have been left without due constitutional process from the first moment of this political trial scam and to date. I have been denied the most fundamental rights granted by the Constitution, including the right to present evidence, to keep in mind my defense, to confront those who accuse me and to summon witnesses to also question them, as to the so-called informer who started all this deception with a false report of the phone call, one that has no relation to how the conversation really was. Since I presented the transcript, which surprised and shook the scammers (who never thought the evidence would be presented), the so-called informer, and a second alleged informer, disappeared because they had been caught in the lie that the report was fraudulent. And suddenly we no longer had access to them. In other words, when the content of the call was made public, its entire network was undone, but that did not stop them from continuing with it.
They gave more access to due process to those who were charged in Salem's trials for witchcraft.
You and others in your commissions have long said that the political trial must be bipartisan, but it is not. You said it was very divisive – it certainly is, more than you thought possible – and it will only get worse!
This is nothing more than an attempt at an illegal and partisan coup that, if we rely on recent popular sentiment, will fail at the polls. Not only are they behind me, like the president, but behind the entire Republican Party. But, due to this colossal injustice, our party is more united than it had ever been. History will judge them harshly as they proceed with this prosecution scam. His legacy will be to convert the House of Representatives, a respected legislative body, into the starry Chamber of slander for partisan persecution.
Possibly the biggest insult is that they are solemnly, falsely. Apparently they respect the American people so little that they expect them to believe that they are treating this process solemnly, reluctantly, quietly. No intelligent person believes them. From the moment I won the election, the Democratic Party has been experiencing the fever of prosecution. There is no reluctance. This is not a serious matter. They are mocking the process of political judgment and not even hiding their hatred towards me, towards the Republican Party and towards tens of millions of patriotic Americans. Voters are sagacious and go beyond this dangerous, empty and emaciated game they are playing.
I have no doubt that the American people will make you and all Democrats accountable in the next 2020 elections. They will not soon forget their perversion of justice and their abuses of power.
There is so much that needs to be done to improve the lives of our citizens. It is time for you and the ultra-partisan Democrats of Congress to immediately cease this fantasy of prosecuting and return to work for the American people. I have no expectation that they will, so I write this letter for historical record and to express my thoughts permanently and indelibly.
In 100 years, when people remember this matter, I want him to understand it and learn from it so that it never happens again to a president.
