The House of Representatives, controlled by the Democratic Party, launched an investigation against Trump in September over the telephone conversation he had on July 25 with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenski.

The fact was disclosed by an informant who claimed to have received information that the US president pressured Zelenski to investigate alleged corrupt activities of former Vice President Joe Biden, his possible rival in the 2020 presidential elections.

As part of those pressures, Trump had ordered the US aid freeze. to persuade Kiev to carry out the investigation of the links of the son of former vice president Hunter Biden with the gas company Burisma Group.

Following the publication of the Intelligence Committee report, the White House dismissed its conclusions and assured that no incriminating evidence was found against the head of state.

Trump disclosed a non-textual transcript of the conversation and claimed that there was nothing improper in it.

The president also accused the Democrats of launching a witch hunt to try to prevent his victory in the 2020 elections.
