Respiratory Wellness Centers, An Alternative In Primary Health Care – Spanish Version

Guatemala. The municipality of Guatemala, together with the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance and the support of the private sector, have put into operation since July 1, 2020, the Respiratory Wellbeing Centers as an alternative for primary health care for Guatemalans. .

These centers are spaces that have been conditioned for the care of the population that present respiratory problems or symptoms that can be linked to COVID-19. In the place there is an internal procedure for the classification of patients through a Triage Manual, after this screening the patient is attended by a telemedicine doctor or in-person doctor if necessary, at this point he will receive indications to treat the disease that Present. If the doctor considers that a swab test is warranted, he requests that the MSPAS staff perform it on the spot.

The Respiratory Wellness Centers are located in different areas of the capital and provide care from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 hours and on Saturdays from 08:00 to 12:00 hours.
