Downdetector lists many sites that are affected, including the popular video doorbell and mobile banking apps. The video doorbell is affected and users are unable to view all camera feeds. The problem is widespread, and it’s unclear if the problem is with Amazon, the company’s cloud system, or another service.
Amazon Web Services, the IT service arm of tech giant Amazon, has been experiencing a major outage that has affected several services. According to Downdetector, the company’s websites are not available. This includes services such as Amazon Prime Video, the Ring doorbell app, and Amazon Prime Music, some Alexa services, Venmo, Disney+, Instacart, and Valoran, and many more.
It’s unclear why AWS is down, but users should stay tuned for more updates on the situation.

Amazon has said that the outage was likely due to issues related to the application programming interface (API), which is a set of protocols for building and integrating application software.
“We are experiencing problems with the API and the console in the US-EAST-1 region,” he explained in a report on the status of his services, adding that he identified the cause and was working to resolve the problem.
Downdetector showed more than 24,000 incidents of people reporting problems with Amazon. This page tracks outages by collecting status reports from various sources, including user-submitted errors.
Other services, including Amazon’s Ring security cameras, mobile banking app Chime, and robotic vacuum maker iRobot are also experiencing problems, according to their social media pages.
Ring has said it was aware of the problem and was working to resolve it. “A major Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage is currently impacting our iRobot Home application,” iRobot reported on its website.
In June, websites including Reddit, Amazon, CNN, PayPal, Spotify, Al Jazeera Media Network, and the New York Times were hit by a widespread one-hour outage tied to the US-based content delivery network provider. Fastly Inc, a smaller rival to AWS.
In July, Amazon experienced an outage in its online store service, which lasted almost two hours and affected more than 38,000 users. Users have experienced 27 outages in the past 12 months on Amazon, according to the web tool reviewed by the ToolTester website.
